Wait, you might be thinking “isn’t this the same blogger who’s always warning us about the dangers of AI”. Yes, the very same! At the same time, me taking a stand against AI won’t stem the tide so in the meantime, I use AI like a baller. My love and I will be spending 10 lovely days in Ireland at the end of the month and there hasn’t been a single aspect of the trip that hasn’t been ai driven. Each of the pins on the map was suggested by ChatGPT in response to one of our interests…

…I told ChatGPT the places we wanted to stay and then asked for the best places to see or eat based on our preferences and ‘she’ (yes she) not only found a lot of interesting things for us but she was also kind enough to put them into a file format that could be easily imported into Google Earth or Google My Maps. I also used AI to learn about renting a car, driving in Ireland, movie filming locations I’d like to see — even the best places to purchase jewelry and what to ask for — there was nothing I asked that was outside her ken. I’ll be sure to circle back and let anyone that’s interested know how it went.
In the meantime, am I a sellout to AI. I don’t think so at least not any more that someone who uses a phone, a car or a computer is to those technologies. Mindful use of AI is not a crime. Not yet, anyway…
