Angry young man…

As a father of 6 boys, I’ve seen 3 of them pass through this stage; some are still stuck. I’m pausing to reflect on what did I cause, how can I make amends and how can I help them get unstuck before more time is wasted…

  1. You’re my hero! I have all girls. 4 of them. 2 of them are VERY angry and it would seem I’ve lost them. You’re an inspiration to me and I think it’s time to take inventory of my own soul and what I may have done to get them to where they are now. And what I need to do to help them cross over to the not so angry side. Thank you.

    1. I don’t know about that, but I am dealing with some of the same issues. I have found Kristin Neff’s book Self-compassion invaluable lately — you can’t give your children compassion if you are not giving it to yourself! Beyond that, John Baker’s book Life’s Healing Choices is a good one for getting over some of the hurts, hangups and habits that family life causes. Namaste!

      1. Thank you very much for the recommendations and I’ve added the books to my wishlist on Amazon. I added Self-Compassion yesterday when I read your post :-) This is what I love about the blogging world… people you’d never meet in REAL life, helping each other. Just know that your journey and struggle really ARE helping others. In the mean time I’ll say a prayer for your sons.
