Ahhh, One of my favorite Van Morrison songs. I hope you had a day like this!

Live & Learn's avatarLive & Learn

When it’s not always raining there’ll be days like this
When there’s no one complaining there’ll be days like this
When everything falls into place like the flick of a switch
Well my mama told me there’ll be days like this…

…When you don’t need to worry there’ll be days like this
When no one’s in a hurry there’ll be days like this…

…When you don’t need an answer there’ll be days like this
When you don’t meet a chancer there’ll be days like this
When all the parts of the puzzle start to look like they fit
Then I must remember there’ll be days like this…

…When no one steps on my dreams there’ll be days like this
When people understand what I mean there’ll be days like this
When you ring out the changes of how everything is
Well my mama told me there’ll be days like this…

  1. Albert Einstein was once asked what the difference was between him and the average person. He said that if you asked the average person to find a needle in the haystack, the person would stop when he or she found a needle. He, on the other hand, would tear through the entire haystack looking for all the possible needles. With creative thinking, one generates as many alternative approaches as one can.

72 years together: The couple who died holding hands

Media_httpcms4theweek_ubslc

After 72 years of marriage, Norma and Gordon Yeager died within one hour of each other — and were buried in a single coffin

Here’s a love story for the ages — or the movies. Iowa couple Norma and Gordon Yeager were both in their 90s and had been married 72 years when they were hospitalized following a car accident. The nurses and doctor kept the two together in the intensive care unit, and they lay there, barely responsive but holding hands. Gordon passed away, and, exactly one hour later, Norma followed him, still holding his hand. “They just loved being together,” says their son Dennis. “He always said, ‘I can’t go until she does because I gotta stay here for her.’ And she would say the same thing.” Here, their incredible story: The Week.

How To Find Your Bliss

“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls.” Joseph Campbell

Answer these questions honestly and you will find your bliss.

What humbles you, bringing you to your knees?

What do you stand gaping, open-mouthed in awe of?

Who do you love impossibly and with every inch of possibility?

What rock have you lifted to find Grace buried under it, waiting for you to pick it up?

When you bring your hands together—there, like that—whose name is on your lips, as you bow your head closer to your heart?

Who have you lost along the way, only to discover losing is only a temporary room where voices, smells, and gestures nestle before they return to the bed you’ve carefully made in your heart?

Which words crack your heart open?

Which silences?

What makes you get very quiet and listen as if your life depended on it?

What if it did?

What if it all boiled down to that moment, there on your knees, listening with grace?” Get more here: How To Find Your Bliss « Positively Positive.

5 Life Lessons We Can Learn From Superheroes

Superheroes were first created as motivational characters dedicated to protecting the public from crooks, robbers, evil scientists and tenacious villains who just keep coming back to life. They stood by strong moral codes and risked their lives repeatedly for the public. They became an entertaining source of inspiration for kids and adults alike to identify core values.

But over the years, past the comic books and blockbuster adaptations, we realized that we don’t only admire these guys for their superpowers and their ability to function at all in their snug attire; we also recognize them as humans with emotions, troubles and flaws, just like the rest of us.

So here’s what we’ve learned not from the Batmans and Spidermans of superhero kingdom, but from the Bruce Waynes and Peter Parkers.” Get more here: 5 Life Lessons We Can Learn From Superheroes | FinerMinds.

Dealing with ‘negativity overwhelm’

Words of wisdom from one of my favorite psychologists and clients, Gemma Stone…

Your brain is continually looking for bad news and for scary situations. As soon as it finds the scariest news, it fixates on it and shoots that information into memory storage. Later, it reactivates that information as soon as a similar situation or signal arises.

Here’s another interesting little fact: once the amydala sounds the alarm that it’s found a negative event, this negative event will immediately be stored in long-term memory. On the other hand, when a positive event is experienced, we need to pay attention to it for at least a dozen seconds before it transfers from short-term memory into long-term memory.” Get more here: dealing with negativity overwhelm | Gemma Stone.

Good luck, Quin!

Heading to La Crosse, WI this morning to see my son Quin compete in the state championship for shotput. He is our miracle baby — the one that wasn’t supposed to make it  — now he’s the only sophomore in the state competing for the championship. Like I said. Miracle baby!

Please hold good thoughts for Quin today…
