Why Happiness Comes From Within

What defines our happiness?

It’s a common consideration. Many of us look outside ourselves to define our happiness, with things, distractions, events and experiences. And because of this many of us give our inner power away by placing it inside these externalities. Though, it’s not just a bad habit, it’s an understandable conditioning. Our consumer oriented society promotes and supports this way of life. Big companies want nothing more than for you to feel your happiness is dependent on what they provide. A recent soft drink slogan springs to mind which tells you to open your happiness. Governments want to support this lifestyle also, so they can sell patriotism and xenophobia. Perhaps even the executives of the company you work for want to sell you the idea that you are dependent on your job for happiness too. We listen to promises and hand over responsibility for our happiness to the world of things, others and circumstances.” Get the rest here: Why Happiness Comes From Within | PickTheBrain | Motivation and Self Improvement.

Fall Asleep Naturally

Why is sleep so elusive for so many? Well, a big part of the problem is that many people are unwittingly sabotaging their natural ability to fall asleep. So how to get the job done without costly prescriptions and peculiar side effects (like sleep-eating and sleep-walking)?

The drug-free key is to start setting the stage long before you climb under the covers.” There’s some good advice here: Fall Asleep Naturally « Positively Positive.

Terri Cole writes:

The onslaught of bad news in the media continues to fester. The climate of fear has reached epic proportions. A Poem.

Codependency.

It’s not you. It’s me.

We can’t live without our we.

Side by side by side by side.

Is all we’ll ever be.

Have you ever been in a relationship in which the lines of your individuality get blurred with another? Do you place your partner’s needs above your own? Do you find yourself being the only one to make a moves on/with/around another person? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be codependent. It’s okay – just like Love Addiction – we can’t help but be what we are taught – and many of us were taught to place other’s needs before our own at any cost.

Codependence is defined as a psychological condition or a relationship in which a person is controlled or manipulated by another who is affected with a pathological condition (as in an addiction to alcohol or heroin)…

5 Ways You Can Do Anything But Not Everything

Ciara Conlon writes:

“After reading the… words by David Allen, do you feel disappointment or relief? My first reaction was relief — relief in the realization that it is not possible or realistic to get everything done. There will always be stuff on your to-do list and always projects that don’t get done. Accepting this reality is the first step to creating the life of stress-free productivity that Allen invites us to have.

I’m a mother, a coach, a trainer, a blogger, an author, and a huge tennis fan, so this month my time is tight (Wimbledon season). Time is always tight for most of us; deciding what to focus our limited time on is the issue. So the question is this:

How do we identify what is the “Anything” that we want in our lives, and what bits are the “Everything” — the things that can be removed from your lists of goals and to-dos?” Get the answer here: 5 Ways How You Can Do Anything…But Not Everything.

I love Ciara’s ideas — I hope you followed the link and read them. Me? I curated this content as a reminder to myself along the lines of what the Apostle Paul said; “All things are possible, but not all things are beneficial”. Focus, focus, focus…
