Why We All Desperately Need ‘South Park’ In 2018

In a nation that seems to be more socio-politically divided than ever before, who would have thought that a profane cartoon centered around children in the 4th grade would be a welcoming voice of reason that we all needed: Why We All Desperately Need ‘South Park’ In 2018

The Four Stages of Competence

The four stages of competence, also known as the four stages of learning, is a model based on the premise that before a learning experience begins, learners are unaware of what or how much they know (unconscious incompetence), and as they learn, they move through four psychological states until they reach a stage of unconscious competence.

By understanding the model, trainers can better identify learning needs and develop learning objectives based on where their target audience is in the four stages related to a given topic: The Four Stages of Competence – Training Industry

The Courage To Speak Up

“If you see things differently than others, congratulations.  You’re thinking for yourself.

If you find yourself pressured into thinking like everyone else, that’s a sign your opinion threatens. It’s too powerful to be dismissed out-of-hand, and that’s why they want to shut you up.

If the status quo is angered by your theory, you’re likely onto something.  Stick to your guns.

If your boss doesn’t want to hear your contrarian opinion, that’s because it cannot be easily dismissed. That’s reason enough to say it.”: The Courage To Speak Up | Shipulski On Design

What Good Is Evolutionary Psychology?

An interesting evolutionary psychology read:

An ability to hold our instincts up to the light, rather than naïvely accepting their products in our consciousness as just the way things are, is the first step in discounting them when they lead to harmful ends. Steven Pinker, The Better Angels of Our Nature

Big ideas often rock the boat, but few have rocked it as thoroughly as the idea of evolution by natural selection. The notion that humans evolved from non-human ancestors, through the survival of some mutations at the expense of others, offends countless cherished ideologies. Natural selection insults the religious conviction that our existence is divinely sanctioned, disturbs the progressive belief that selfish competition is a modern aberration, and disorients the widespread desire to find purpose and morality in the natural world. Given these transgressions, it’s no wonder that evolution has serious public relations issues. Evolution stirs up its strongest opposition when used to interpret the human mind in the field of evolutionary psychology. Get more: What Good Is Evolutionary Psychology? – Quillette

Feel like giving up? This is the time to keep going

‘Oh-my-god-this-is-completely-worst-how-did-I-get-here-I-just-want-to-curl-up-into-a-ball-and-hide’. We all have been there ㄧ we constantly feel like giving up because of the thought of whatever we do has really no effect on what is happening in our life. It is doing no good, it’s like running up a never-ending hill. It’s hard!

There’s a feeling of powerlessness when you realize you’re banging your head against a wall which doesn’t seem to move. And that makes you feel it hard to dig your way. The truth is every creative adventure will bring the real value in pain. What-ifs, would-haves, and could-haves cause strong distractions in our path. So, we give up.

The funny true thing is we make it hard for us. If you do not achieve something in the next few hours or days, it doesn’t mean it will not work for you ever. There shouldn’t be an option of giving up. Here’s what you should be doing to keep moving on: Feel like giving up? This is the time to keep going
