…on One Day at a Time

“One day at a time” isn’t a value I acquired because I wanted to. I had to. Now I apply it because I want to.

Application: Sailing through life? Falling in love? Plenty of money? Or maybe things aren’t going that well. Lonely? Dealing with relationship issues? Not sure how the relationship will work out?Your boss is driving you nuts, but you don’t want to quit? Concerned about your child? Whatever circumstances we find ourselves in, taking each day as it comes is a good idea.” via May 9.

The Power Of Gratitude

“What you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it. Opportunities, relationships, even money flowed my way when I learned to be grateful no matter what happened in my life.” ~ Oprah Winfrey via Today’s Quotes: The Power Of Gratitude from Oprah, TonyRobbins.

Go for Baroque!

Lately I’m having a real hard time listening to music. I’m one of those people who find ‘deep meaning’ in songs and while my wife is away some songs make me feel happy, but others can make me feel a bit melancholy. I love Pandora and I use it while I’m working to build a radio stream around a song an artist or a genre to set a mood while I’m working on a site or doing other technical work. Today I’m going for Baroque

“Responses to music are easy to be detected in the human body. Classical music from the baroque period causes the heart beat and pulse rate to relax to the beat of the music. As the body becomes relaxed and alert, the mind is able to concentrate more easily. Furthermore, baroque music decreases blood pressure and enhances the ability to learn. Music affects the amplitude and frequency of brain waves, which can be measured by an electro-encephalogram. Music also affects breathing rate and electrical resistance of the skin. It has been observed to cause the pupils to dilate, increase blood pressure, and increase the heart rate.” via Music and the Brain.

Listen to this…

See what I mean? You feel better already don’t you. Look into Pandora while you’re at it — it’s free if you don’t want to use it on your phone but I gladly pay the $36 annual fee…

Who looks at banner ads?

Banner ads first appeared on the web in 1994 and since then they have been used extensively over the Internet. They are made to be eye catching and impressive so that they create an urge in the visitors to click into their business. But, their mass production and misuse has caused viewers to be skeptical and unresponsive to them. After 8 years, do people still fall for this attractive ad?

Nice post, Danelle!

glcrowi's avatarGreen Lake County of Wisconsin Republican Organization

Today is the primary election, in what many consider to be the most important race in Wisconsin’s history. For the last year, out-of-state special interests and Washington insiders have put petty politics ahead of the needs of hard working taxpayers.
It is imperative that you stand with me and the rest of the Republican ticket at the polls and move us one step closer to victory on June 5th. That is why I’m asking for your vote today – and again in four weeks.
Since taking office, we eliminated a $3.6 billion deficit, added the largest influx of dollars to Medicaid in state history, and saved more than a billion dollars of taxpayer money. In and of itself, this would be considered a great achievement, but we also did this without raising taxes and without massive layoffs.
The foundation has been laid for a bright future here in Wisconsin…

Another great post from Jon Swanson…

Jon Swanson's avatar300 words a day

Monday afternoon, I sent Hope the links to a couple of music videos. I didn’t write much at all, just a couple words. But I knew she would understand. One was a group I like singing a song she knew. One was a group she knew with a musician I like. One was a singer we both like with a version of a line in a song that she likes.

That paragraph shows that in relationship, the parties can know each other well enough to not need lots of explanation. They can share things just for the sake of sharing, not trying to accomplish anything other than what I hope to accomplish with my emails: to let our daughter know that I’m thinking of her.

Yesterday I sent a link to Andrew of an article. I forwarded an email to Nancy. Sometimes I send videos or articles to all three…

Song for you far away…

…”Sitting here all alone is bringing it on again, I’m gone again.

Sitting here thinking of you is driving it home again.

This is a song for you far away, far away. This is a song for you far away from me.

Open the door it takes me back, oh it takes me back.

Mention your name and I’m gone again, oh I’m gone again.

This is a song for you far away from me, far away from me.”

Maybe I’m amazed…

This one goes out to my beautiful wife…

“Maybe I’m a man and maybe I’m a lonely man

Who’s in the middle of something

That he doesn’t really understand

Maybe I’m a man and maybe you’re the only woman

Who could ever help me

Baby won’t you help me understand…”

via Paul McCartney :: Maybe Im Amazed Lyrics – Absolute Lyrics.
