Imperfect Imperfection & Divine Mercy

I’d like to welcome my baby sister to the blogosphere. Here’s her first post…

im·per·fec·tion

noun: 1. a fault, blemish, or undesirable feature.

Synonyms: defect, fault, flaw, deformity, discoloration, disfigurement; crack, scratch, chip, nick, pit, dent; blemish, stain, spot, mark, streak, flaw, fault, failing, deficiency, weakness, vice, weak point, fallibility, shortcoming, foible, inadequacy, frailty, limitation, chink in one’s armor.

My name is Lisa and I am imperfectly imperfect. The definition of imperfection and all of its synonyms describe me imperfectly. In using the term “imperfectly imperfect”, I mean that sometimes there are these moments of glorious near perfection that happen through me, but I now realize that these neither start nor end with me, but rather happen despite me. And the thing is, as of this moment in time, I am incredibly grateful to embrace my imperfect imperfection. It has become an amazing gift; one that took me way too long to receive, let alone unwrap and enjoy.

How To Prevent Dead-End Arguments With Your Partner

Have you ever been in a disagreement with your partner that went nowhere fast? And you know you’re on the slippery slope leading to cold shoulders, cold dinners and tension thick as grits?

Often one person can unilaterally alter the course of an argument. It only takes a genuine desire to learn something about yourself.

The first question to ask your partner in a bad discussion is, "What am I doing that is unproductive right now in this conversation?"

An honorable human relationship

Romantic Couple Proposal for Wedding

Adrienne Rich writes:

“An honorable human relationship — that is, one in which two people have the right to use the word “love” — is a process, delicate, violent, often terrifying to both persons involved, a process of refining the truths they can tell each other. It is important to do this because it breaks down human self-delusion and isolation. It is important to do this because in doing so we do justice to our own complexity. It is important to do this because we can count on so few people to go that hard way with us.” How Relationships Refine Our Truths: Adrienne Rich on the Dignity of Love | Brain Pickings
