Ego, as Juan Matus describes it, is a dragon with one thousand heads. It is a destructive, blinding creature that forces us to believe that we are what we are, only in comparison with others. We spend energy believing this fiction, energy we could be using to enjoy life. What do you have to do to cut the heads of this dragon, overcome your ego, and claim your power back?

If you had to pick just one thing?
Mmm good…

People ask me all the time what the secret to happiness is. “If you had to pick just one thing,” they wonder, “what would be the most important thing for leading a happy life?”
Ten years ago, I would have told you a regular gratitude practice was the most important thing—and while that is still my favorite instant happiness booster, my answer has changed. I believe the most important thing for happiness is living truthfully. Here’s the specific advice I recently gave my kids:
Live with total integrity. Be transparent, honest, and authentic. Do not ever waiver from this; white lies and false smiles quickly snowball into a life lived out of alignment. It is better to be yourself and risk having people not like you than to suffer the stress and tension that comes from pretending to be someone you’re not, or professing to like something that you don’t…

8 Ways To Take Control Of Your Life
Sometimes we lose ourselves when we are trying to adjust to a big change in life, for example, a new job, new college or a change in location. This tends to make us feel lost and helpless as if we are not running our life, but life is running us. Our goals seem too far to reach, and we are blinded by the fog in front of our eyes. Well, but when we are driving the wheel, we stay focused on what’s in front of us, try not to lose our balance and keep looking behind via a mirror to know when to take the next big move, right? Similar is our life and here are ways we can take control of it. Don’t worry; it happens to everybody…

Vintage 1942: The more things change, the more they…
#truestory
Every time I hear a political speech or I read those of our leaders, I am horrified at having, for years, heard nothing which sounded human. It is always the same words telling the same lies. And the fact that men accept this, that the people’s anger has not destroyed these hollow clowns, strikes me as proof that men attribute no importance to the way they are governed […]”

An interview with Dr. Steve McSwain on Spirituality
In my opinion, Dr. Steve McSwain is one of the world’s foremost thought leaders on the topic of spirituality and interfaith issues. He is an awakened or enlightened Southern Baptist minister — a category which most would consider to be an oxymoron. This interview is a long, but worthwhile, overview of his perspective on God and religion.
In the spirit of full disclosure, Steve McSwain is a client of mine, but he’s a client of mine because I discovered his thinking on the Huffington Post website and started tracking him in my feed reader. I curated and commented on his content and over time, we eventually entered into a support agreement. I’m now one of his ‘internet plumbers’ helping him on a wide variety of issues from email to social media and I’m happy to help him ‘get found’ on the internet so that more people can be exposed to his thinking…

5 Things You Need To Tell Yourself Every Morning
Words have creative power in them. If I ask you, where you see yourself 5 years from now, I could probably make out where you will be then. I would suggest you to pay attention to the words that you are saying right now about your future. Your words determine your future, so always speak positively about yourself even though your situation is completely against you.
