HEY, REMEMBER THAT dog-like robot, SpotMini, that Boston Dynamics showed off last week, the one that opened a door for its robot friend? Well, the company just dropped a new video starring the canine contraption. In this week’s episode, a human with a hockey stick does everything in his power to stop the robot from opening the door, including tugging on the machine, which struggles in an … unsettling manner. But the ambush doesn’t work. The dogbot wins and gets through the door anyway.

Backflipping MIT Mini Cheetah
What’s scarier than a cheetah, one of nature’s most awesome big cats? A robot cheetah, of course. What’s scarier than a robot cheetah? A backflipping robot cheetah, created by the evidently fiendishly brilliant robotics geniuses over at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Scientists Created a Hummingbird Robot with AI and It’s Kind of Adorable
This just in…
“Researchers have engineered flying robots that behave like hummingbirds, training them with machine learning algorithms based on various techniques the bird uses naturally every day.
This means that after learning a simulation, the robot “knows” how to move around on its own like a hummingbird would.
The combination of flying like a bird and hovering like an insect could one day offer a better way to maneuver through collapsed buildings and other cluttered spaces to find trapped victims.” Source: Scientists Created a Hummingbird Robot with AI and It’s Kind of Adorable
Adorable? Am I the only one who thinks this is terrifying? Can you say Skynet?
Radical Self-Honesty: The Joy of Getting Real
Tara Brach is one of my favorite teachers. She writes:
Radical self-honesty cuts through the veils of delusion. When we courageously contact the truth of each moment and welcome it into a forgiving, tender space of compassion, the light of our heart shines through.

9 Easy Ways You Can Speak Your Truth Today

“Something is Wrong with Me”
“When I was in college, I went off to the mountains for a weekend of hiking with an older, wiser friend of twenty-two. At one point, my friend described how she was learning to be “her own best friend.” A huge wave of sadness came over me, and I broke down sobbing—I was the farthest thing from my own best friend.
I was continually harassed by an inner judge who was merciless, relentless, nit-picking, driving, often invisible but always on the job. I knew I would never treat a friend the way I treated myself, without mercy or kindness. My guiding assumption was, “Something is fundamentally wrong with me,” and I struggled to control and fix what felt like a basically flawed self.
Feeling not okay went hand in hand with deep loneliness. In my early teens I sometimes imagined that I was living inside a transparent orb that separated me from the people and life around me. When I felt good about myself and at ease with others, the bubble thinned until it was like an invisible wisp of gas. When I felt bad about myself, the walls got so thick it seemed others must be able to see them.”: Blog: “Something is Wrong with Me” – Tara Brach
Time
“It’s being here now that’s important. There’s no past and there’s no future. Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now. We can gain experience from the past, but we can’t relive it; and we can hope for the future, but we don’t know if there is one.”
George Harrison
I sit beside the fire and think
I sit beside the fire and think
Of people long ago
And people that will see a world
That I shall never knowBut all the while I sit and think
Of times there were before
I listen for returning feet
And voices at the door”― J.R.R. Tolkien
