The Way: You don’t choose a life Dad, you live one…

Last year about this time, my blogging buddy David Kanigan posted this. I watched the movie and like most of David’s recommendations, it was well worth it. Now another blogging buddy Melanie is actually walking the Camino de Santiago and live-blogging the adventure via wordpress.com and her smartphone. She’s currently on day 6 so you can catch up easily at http://melanieslifeonline.com/category/travel/camino-de-santiago-travel/

What a cool world this internet world is!!!

I recommend “The Way” for anyone looking for a light, funny, feel-good movie on a rainy Sunday. Basic no-surprise plot. Good casting buckled with very good soundtrack, humor, captivating vistas and mouth watering food scenes. And the lead character (Martin Sheen) is, like me, an acknowledged “Believer of Convenience” (Easter, Christmas) so the flick resonated with me.  The 2-minute trailer captures the plot nicely.

Be aware that healthy relationships are built on trust, and that trust takes time to develop. It may be unwise to share too much of yourself and about yourself too quickly.

Think You’re Health Conscious? How’s Your Brain Looking?

It’s the most complicated organ in the human body, burns 20-30% of the total number of calories in your body, and is said to contain more tiny internal connections than there are stars.

The wonder-organ we’re referring to is the human brain.

And despite its complex nature, it’s actually very easy to look after.

Although, with many of us being unaware of how our intelligence, happiness and longevity continually changes depending on how we care for our brain, learning how to improve its health can undoubtedly change our lives.

In Blackwater Woods

Look, the trees

are turning

their own bodies

into pillars

of light,

are giving off the rich

fragrance of cinnamon

and fulfillment,

the long tapers

of cattails

are bursting and floating away over

the blue shoulders

of the ponds,

and every pond,

no matter what its

name is, is

nameless now.

Every year

everything

I have ever learned

in my lifetime

leads back to this: the fires

and the black river of loss

whose other side

is salvation,

whose meaning

none of us will ever know.

To live in this world

you must be able

to do three things:

to love what is mortal;

to hold it

against your bones knowing

your own life depends on it;

and, when the time comes to let it go,

to let it go.

Can People Choose Their Emotions Like Spock?

Zachary Quinto as Spock in the 2009 Star Trek film

Troy Campbell writes:

In Star Trek Into Darkness, Spock claims he can choose whether or not to feel an emotion. He makes a good case that in certain situations feelings would not functionally help him and that resisting feelings would spare him from suffering. The always emotionally charged Captain Kirk asks Spock how he does it, claiming that he himself cannot. Continue reading “Can People Choose Their Emotions Like Spock?”

Are You a Prisoner of Your Mind?

In this 10-minute video, the legendary Eckhart Tolle explains that by analyzing every thought we have, we get trapped in a conceptual reality – effectively imprisoning ourselves in our minds.

Listen to this video to learn how to escape from this continual mental chatter so you’re able to hear the voice of wisdom – one that can only be heard when the mind is silent.

The “F” Word: 5 Steps to Practicing Forgiveness

See on Scoop.itLiving Business

“No, not that “f” word.  The other “f” word: forgiveness!

The Buddha compared holding onto anger to grasping hot coals with the intent of throwing them at someone else.  You, of course, are the one that gets burnt.  So, why is it that we often walk around holding onto resentment, grudges, and animosity?  Sometimes for years or even a lifetime. Why do we recycle unpleasant circumstances in our minds and keep those wounds open?”
