I will affirm the good until it sinks in and feels real

Heh, heh, heh. Now you’re quoting Melody Beattie? I thought I was reading my own blog for a minute. :-D

“…Help me let go of my need to stay immersed in negativity. I can change the energy in myself and my environment from negative to positive. I will affirm the good until it sinks in and feels real. I will also strive to find one quality that I like about someone else who’s important to me, and I will take the risk of telling him or her that.”

  ~ Melody Beattie

I may be the only one on the planet who didn’t know about Melanie Beattie’s back story.  And what an incredible story she has.  Here’s more than a few excerpts from her bio on her blog page:

Melody Beattie, is the author of the international self help best seller titled Codependent No More where she introduced the psychological condition called “codependency.”  Over eight million copies of the book have been sold worldwide.  Millions of…

Why We Sometimes Enjoy Pity and How to Stop

Why pity-seeking becomes a habit, it can interfere with our happiness and our relationships.

Todd Lohenry‘s insight:

“A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval.” ~Mark Twain. Read that again. Did you see comfortable or uncomfortable? The first time I read it I thought it was another take on the classic Eleanor Roosevelt quote "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." but Twain’s quote speaks to the need for self-compassion…

Make Mistakes

Make mistakes, learn from them, laugh about them, and move along.

Todd Lohenry‘s insight:

The key to me is how do I talk to myself when I’ve made a ‘mistake’. Not treating myself with self-compassion is the biggest mistake or what the Buddha called the ‘second arrow’. If the first arrow is the mistake, not treating myself with compassion is like shooting myself with a second arrow…

Grindtv.com: “Visitors to marine parks have watched orcas perform all kinds of cute and fun tricks, but these sleek and powerful mammals perform their greatest acrobatics in the wild, without artificial stimulus. Capt. Garry Henkel of Aboriginal Journeys proved this emphatically with a spectacular set images captured last week off Campbell River, British Columbia. But even Henkel said he had never enjoyed a show quite like this one. “I’ve been on the water 40 years as a commercial fisherman, and the past 15 as a tour guide,” he said. “And this was by far the best show I’ve ever seen.” Henkel was leading a tour with eight passengers aboard a 28-foot boat, Laker II, on the back side of Quadra Island, when they encountered two family groups of orcas—about 12 total.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: The Philosophers Notes Challenge – Day 4

A few words from Brian on the book…

“How’s your financial blueprint? Don’t worry, I didn’t have mine either until I read T. Harv Eker’s great (and surprisingly funny!) book. If you’re committed to creating financial freedom (who isn’t?) then my strong recommendation is that you add this to your must-read list.”

In today’s challenge, we’ll take a quick look at some of Brian’s favorite big ideas (this book is so full of them he had to stop himself at 21!) – everything from defining financial freedom, learning to play to win, and seeing how the size of your character determines your response to various sized problems.

What you’ll see is that T. Harv believes strongly in the fact that: “Your inner world reflects your outer world,” and dedicates a great deal of the book to teaching us how to change our thinking – to reprogram ourselves to think and act like rich people do.

So… let’s get to work on that financial blueprint, shall we?

To take part in today’s challenge, simply watch Brian’s video above and share your responses to it below (and to get a copy of the book, just click here).

How to Exude One of Life’s Most Important Skills (By the Bucket-Load!)

Self-confidence.

Don’t you just wish that you could hit a magic button and it would come to your rescue when you need it the most – or for some of us, each and every day?

In this empowering 13-minute TED Talk, athletic director and head coach of the Varsity Soccer team at Ryerson University, Dr. Joseph, explains why he believes self-confidence is the most important skill in both athletics, and in life.

We really enjoyed this motivating talk as it reminded us that even if we’re not blessed with a natural healthy glow of self-confidence – it’s a skill that can be mastered, no matter how lacking in it we may be.
