Anticipation

Before I moved to Wisconsin, there were two times in my life that I witnessed a sunrise; once in Montauk, NY and once in Newport, RI. There are few things in life [for me, anyway] than witnessing a sunrise from total darkness to a glorious sun over the water. Now that I live in Algoma, I can have that pleasure every day if I like. Althought Lake Michigan doesn’t have the same salt tang as the Atlantic, the sunrises are every bit as beautiful and no one does a better job of bringing them to you than Bill Pevlor at Pops Digital…

Save your love!

“Save your love, my love save it just for me

Save it up, every drop till you’re here with me

Save it all, don’t you fall for somebody new

‘Cause I’m saving my love for you.”

I’m saving mine until May 17…

Thank God they finally did it…

I’m not much for TV, but I do love the series Castle, hokey as it is. Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic are great in their roles and the writers have been doing a great job of keeping the sexual tension going but Monday night that ended for good…

“Beckett, what do you want”? Castle asked, when a rain-soaked Kate washed up at his doorstep. “You,” she responded, looking up at the mystery writer with bedroom eyes. And as they say, the rest is history!

Kicking off Hump (Hug?) Day with Dave Matthews Band and “Everyday.” (Lori, music video is dedicated to you).  And now to feature some of the most inspiring blog posts of the week by some of my favorite bloggers:

If I had a son who was playing high school football – he’d be lucky to play for Coach Bill Moore – the Westfield, MA High School Football Coach. I was inspired by Coach Moore’s recent post Jugs: “It was 1989 when I faced a monster nicknamed Jugs. He was a colossus of a man, six feet six inches tall and 300 pounds of powerful mass and ill content. I watched the film in the week before the game. I knew what was coming. I had faced powerful men before, but nothing like this…”

What you see depends on what you’re looking for

“What you see depends on what you’re looking for.” ~ UNKNOWN via What you see depends on what you’re looking for. « Positively Positive.

Thank You!

I love Kute Blackson and his amazing energy and insight…

“Thank YOU.

THANK you

THANK YOU

Perhaps two of the most potent words you could say.

As powerful as any mantra, prayer, poem, affirmation or chant.

If all you did was say a heartfelt  “Thank you” each moment of your life to everyone you met, miracles would occur.

“Thank you” melts hearts. Let’s people feel loved and appreciated. End wars. Start new friendships. Create smiles.

The more you give thanks, the more you will have to give thanks about in your life. It’s been said that “What you think about expands”.  I like to say, “What you THANK about expands.” via Thank You!.

…on One Day at a Time

“One day at a time” isn’t a value I acquired because I wanted to. I had to. Now I apply it because I want to.

Application: Sailing through life? Falling in love? Plenty of money? Or maybe things aren’t going that well. Lonely? Dealing with relationship issues? Not sure how the relationship will work out?Your boss is driving you nuts, but you don’t want to quit? Concerned about your child? Whatever circumstances we find ourselves in, taking each day as it comes is a good idea.” via May 9.

The Power Of Gratitude

“What you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it. Opportunities, relationships, even money flowed my way when I learned to be grateful no matter what happened in my life.” ~ Oprah Winfrey via Today’s Quotes: The Power Of Gratitude from Oprah, TonyRobbins.

Dont Wait 7

Good thoughts from Nicholas Bate on procrastination…

  1. For creativity. Start producing. Produce wildly. Write, paint, draw, construct, think, innovate, team, brainstorm, project. Something worthwhile, something creative will be produced.
  2. For the right time. Start now. Now is the perfect time. Things can only, things will only, get tougher. Start.
  3. For love. Start looking. Love is always out there. In the most surprising places.
  4. For a lucky break. Work hard, very hard. Then luck will come a-tumbling your way.
  5. For motivation. Haha. Start and then you will get motivated.
  6. For his/her call. They are either keen or they are not. Give them another chance, then move on.
  7. For productivity. Decide what needs to be done: now. Start.”

Go for Baroque!

Lately I’m having a real hard time listening to music. I’m one of those people who find ‘deep meaning’ in songs and while my wife is away some songs make me feel happy, but others can make me feel a bit melancholy. I love Pandora and I use it while I’m working to build a radio stream around a song an artist or a genre to set a mood while I’m working on a site or doing other technical work. Today I’m going for Baroque

“Responses to music are easy to be detected in the human body. Classical music from the baroque period causes the heart beat and pulse rate to relax to the beat of the music. As the body becomes relaxed and alert, the mind is able to concentrate more easily. Furthermore, baroque music decreases blood pressure and enhances the ability to learn. Music affects the amplitude and frequency of brain waves, which can be measured by an electro-encephalogram. Music also affects breathing rate and electrical resistance of the skin. It has been observed to cause the pupils to dilate, increase blood pressure, and increase the heart rate.” via Music and the Brain.

Listen to this…

See what I mean? You feel better already don’t you. Look into Pandora while you’re at it — it’s free if you don’t want to use it on your phone but I gladly pay the $36 annual fee…

Who looks at banner ads?

Banner ads first appeared on the web in 1994 and since then they have been used extensively over the Internet. They are made to be eye catching and impressive so that they create an urge in the visitors to click into their business. But, their mass production and misuse has caused viewers to be skeptical and unresponsive to them. After 8 years, do people still fall for this attractive ad?

glcrowi's avatarGreen Lake County of Wisconsin Republican Organization

Today is the primary election, in what many consider to be the most important race in Wisconsin’s history. For the last year, out-of-state special interests and Washington insiders have put petty politics ahead of the needs of hard working taxpayers.
It is imperative that you stand with me and the rest of the Republican ticket at the polls and move us one step closer to victory on June 5th. That is why I’m asking for your vote today – and again in four weeks.
Since taking office, we eliminated a $3.6 billion deficit, added the largest influx of dollars to Medicaid in state history, and saved more than a billion dollars of taxpayer money. In and of itself, this would be considered a great achievement, but we also did this without raising taxes and without massive layoffs.
The foundation has been laid for a bright future here in Wisconsin…
